Following a catastrophic climate crisis, the old city of Chicago is now a sparse desert and the only organism left surviving is a single species of cactus. The Census Task Force (CTF), composed of a small group of specialized researchers and scientists, are stationed on the former city’s remains to collect information on the its history and former inhabitants.

Agent Ibrahim, Agent Layk, and Agent Ru begin to make shocking discoveries, sparking hope for the future of their operations. That hope is stunted when a major device malfunctions during a routine survey operation, and their entire reality is called into question. Confronted by the CTF’s shadowy motives, the three scientists are left with no option but to find hope together or survive the treacherous climate alone.
